International Commissions

The International Commissions are supporting bodies of the International Executive Bureau (IEB). Within their working areas they develop ideas and make recommendations.  The International Commissions are not decision-making bodies and any recommendations made, require the approval of the IEB before being put into effect.

There are three standing International Commissions.
* Professional Commission (PC)
* Social-Cultural Commission (SCC)
* External Relations Commission (ERC)

Tasks of the Professional Commission (PC) are:
Matters relating to police development, structure and history
Comparative surveys regarding police work within IPA Sections
Crime development, criminology, crime prevention
Police techniques
Traffic matters
Police placement program
Representation of IPA at International Education Centres
IPA Scholarships (proposals for planning and granting)
International educational events involving policing issues


Tasks of the Social-Cultural Commission (SCC) are:
Promotion of cultural activities
International Youth Gatherings (co-ordination and advising organisers)
International educational events other than policing matters
International Competitions (proposals for the issuing, execution and prize distribution)
IEC Conference and World Congress theme topics
Co-ordination of matters regarding hobbies (collectors, radio amateurs, requests for pen-friends etc.)


Tasks of the Social-Cultural Commission (SCC) are:
Promotion and co-ordination of social activities
Co-ordination of emergency and humanitarian aid
Matters regarding IPA houses
Co-ordination of International Sports events and championships
Matters regarding travel


Tasks of the External Relations Commission (ERC)
Correspondence with International Organisations approved by the IEB
Attendance at conferences of other International Organisations when appropriate
Collate relevant information for submission to other International Organisations
Collate relevant information for IPA Publications
